As per security experts the software updates for Windows compatible Quicktime Media player of Apple is no longer being produced. The website called ZDI or Zero Day Initiative had recently reported two vulnerabilities that they found in QuickTime‘s Windows version.

As per what was told to ZDI, Apple had advised them that on Windows, the product would be deprecated. They were also informed that the removal instruction to remove the software would also be published by Apple.

There is no official announcement made by the company pertaining to the fact that the company plans to officially end the Windows compatible version of QuickTime. Apple had developed the multimedia solution so that all interactive, audio and video content could be handled easily on the computer. In 1991, Apple had released the software and a little later had also developed the version that was compatible for Windows which was available for download.

On the website of the Zero day, the details of the software security holes has been published, the information includes the various portions which are actively exploited as well as information about the details about the where it has not been patched.

ZDI also stated that there were indications made by the company pertaining to the fact that the windows compatible update software of QuickTime will not be published even though it can still be downloaded from the official website of Apple.

In a recent security bulletin, Trend Micro, a security firm has also published information about the vulnerabilities of the software which makes it insecured. It stated that the only way a person can prevent potential attacks and protect their Windows system is by uninstalling the QuickTime software. Mac users do not have to worry about QuickTime due to the fact that they will still receive updates from the company pertaining to the Mac compatible QuickTime version.
