The Apple iPhone camera is quite good for all types of images. Moreover, one can also manually click panoramic images using the Apple camera. Although the facility can be used easily, there is a slight catch to it. While clicking any panoramic image on the Apple iPhone camera, one needs to capture a series of images and then join it together in a fixed proportion to get the final panoramic image. Recently, Apple has filed for and acquired a new patent which will revolutionize the way Apple captures panoramic images using its iPhone camera.
With this new patent, Apple will be able to engineer the technology of their regular camera app to allow users to capture panoramic images with just one click. After applying the technology, Apple users won’t have to click many images to get a panoramic picture; everything will be done in one simple click.
The main working of the new technology is quite simple. Presently referred to as the “Super Resolution Mode”, this technology will work exactly like the previous model, but everything will be automatic. Now, iPhone users will simply have to click once for panoramic images. The camera will capture a series of images one after the other, automatically. These images will later be joined together by the technology and a final panoramic image will be produced for the user.
Another advantage of using the “Super Resolution Mode” is that now, the panoramic images will have better image quality and the pixel breaks the images had previously will not be there. Although quite simple, the mechanism is actually quite clever. Moreover, the Image Stabilization unit of the camera will help to make the captured image much better and smooth.
Even with patents at hand, Apple at times do not implement some of the new technologies it has. Only time will say if the company uses this patent or keeps it aside like other patents the company has.
