Sonos which has just become a partner for Apple music has recently revealed that there are plans by the company to refocus so that it can cater to the services of the music streaming. The changes that are in the pipeline also include laying off a few of the employees. John Macfarlane the Chief Executive of Sonos started in a post that number of employees that were going to be laid off has not been indicated. He also did not mention about the changes in specific however all he did stated was the shift was more towards the music streaming services which were going to be subscription based.
In his blog he wrote that in the last year, the official announcement was made by Apple about the partnership between the Apple music and the company. They helped and saw to ensure that there was an acceleration that was dramatic to help in the subscription of paid music services. He also went on to say that considering the influence has over the ecosystem, management, artist and labels also went ahead and embraced and advanced the streaming services globally.
The plans of the company are to not only cut off the workforce and employees however also ensure that the investment that is it making will confidently and substantially be increased towards the future of music.
He stated the move of the lay off process is something that is being done with a heavy heart as the people that are being laid off in their own ways have made their own contributing and have been a vital part of making the company stand in the position where it is. He also wished them well and said that the company will do everything it can to ensure that the transition of the employees will go smoothly.
