The recent update on the product list and vintage products has included three Apple products that are being welcomed. This would be the MacBook Pro ‐15″ launched in the mid of 2010. The MacBook Pro 17″ that was also launched in the mid of 2010 and during the early 2009, the launch of XServe.
Now the older notebooks as well as the hardware for server rack has officially been termed as Vintage in Turkey and the United States and for the remaining part of the world, it is been termed as Obsolete.
The Mac and other products that fall under the vintage or obsolete category will no longer be eligible to receive any service for the hardware. As per the definition given by the company, the term Vintage is referred to the products that have not been manufactured above 5 but below 7 years. In the case of products which are declared as Obsolete, then these are products which have been discontinued by the company for 7 years or more.
The updates list comes not even a month after the company had declared the initial list of obsolete. This includes all their Mac products that were manufactured during the period of 2008 to 2009. This would include the 2009 release of 21.5″ iMac, 27″ iMac, the mid 2009 MacBook Air, Mac Pro which was released on 2009m MacBook 13″ released on 2008, the MacBook Pro 15″ and 17″ both released in 2009.
The recently updated list gave us a clear understanding of not just the products that have been discontinued or no more under manufacturing but it also let us know exactly which category do they fall under. It also lets us know that what kind of service we can or will not get from the company depending on the model and the categorization of the model.
