The case between Apple and FBI has spread far and wide. A lot of eminent companies and officials, be it politicians, company CEOs or tech gurus, are taking sides. Most politicians and senators of the United States are in favor of the FBI court order using which FBI wants to get the backdoor to Apple iPhones. On the other hand, tech gurus, CEOs and many others feel that creating a backdoor to the security of the world’s most used smartphone is not only unethical, but simply wrong.
Early in the year 2013, a certain Ladar Levison, the founder and creator of Lavabit, went against the court in the same way Apple had. The company had an encrypted mailing service, which allowed the users to send private mails privately. On a certain case, quite like Apple’s, the FBI ordered Lavabit to hand over the encryption key to them. According to the reports, Ladar stated that he preferred closing off the service over handing FBI the security encryption. Finally, the company did exactly that. The shut off the service, but never handed over the code. Already, there are over 40 corporate companies who have stood beside Apple in this case.
According to Lavabit, the court order put forward by the FBI to create a backdoor for iOS in iPhones is absolutely profound. On the other hand, the users of iPhones will always be in danger. They might have second thoughts while downloading the latest iPhone updates fearing the inclusion of certain programs which will render the phone security system useless. On the other hand, when users won’t update their iPhones with the latest updates, the iPhones will have backdated systems, which will in turn affect the security system of the phone. All in all, it can be seen that this measure will actual cause problems to Apple iPhone users one way or the other.
