Recently Apple had submitted an Application to the Indian Government to obtain the necessary certificates for importing iPhones which are pre‐owned so that it can be sold in the country. This application was received in the ministry of Forests and Environment. This information was passed down to the country’s upper house of the Parliament called. Rajya Sabha by Ravi Shankar Prasad also added that there has not been any kind of green signal passed by the government.
It is still not clear as to what kind of models the company wishes to import however it is said that the move is sad to be a tactic so that they can make their stand by penetration into the Indian market for Smartphone’s.
As of right now, in the Indian Market, the control of the company is very small, while its competitors like Micromax and Samsung seem to have a better grip on the market. This is because their produces are priced better and is more inclined to the demands f the present generation.
Recently the sales in India on iPhone 4S and 5S were dropped. The 4S series of iPhones were priced at around Rs. 12,000 which is around $175.Ir is also set that the company plans to intensify their footprints in the Indian market by next year. The Indian City of Hyderabad is the place that has been chosen by the company so that they can go ahead and open a development office in the country.
They also have plans to go ahead and officially come up with the first Apple Store. In order to do that, the company has already gone ahead and submitted an application that is still pending approval. The application was handed over to the Indian’s Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion which is responsible to authorize the allow companies to set their retail outlets in the country.
