It has been 8 months since Connect was released by Apple. However, it has still not managed to make its mark in the social aspect. Dave Wiskus had decided to recheck his stance on Apple’s platform to see if the company had made any kind of changes to hold on to the aspect of helping fans and artists connect. In his blog, he admitted that he did not feel as connected as he wanted and that it has failed miserable. He went on to say that the basic inability of Connect towards how it functions and a social network lacks in a lot of ways‐‐‐‐the first being in the artist page there is no follow button. It also does not show how many following a band has and even the profile pages for an individual lacks a few things.
The most interesting point that was pointed out was that the Connect support blundered a lot especially when it came to the names of Artists who had the similar name. The profile picture in one such case had changed, after a lot of discussion and continuous follow‐ups with the company, the solution that was given to the band were to create a new profile for the band and abandoning the profile that had the incorrect picture. He went on to say that the posts and followers were still associated with the old page. He went on to say that they did not have any way to let their fans know about the new profile that was open. Due to this, they did not even know how many fans or following they lost and how they could get it back. He also said that considering the company’s size and potential, and even after 7 months, this is something that was pathetic and not accepted.
