The Apple Watch Diary last summer stated that the tipping point for a lot of people was the arrival of Apple Pay services in UK. In one of the latest updates, it spoke about a fraud attempt that left one of the users without the service for a few days.
The user had received a message from the bank where they were requested t give a call to the bank. The reason was because it was suspected by the bank that the user’s card was compromised. During the conversation, the client got to know about the fact that bank had blocked an online transaction attempt of £1200 from the debit card. The amount that was been debited was for a purchase of a gadget. The person was impressed to know that the bank had caught the fraud beforehand.
When the confirmation was given that the client had not made the transaction, the bank went ahead and deactivated the old card and told the client that in a few days the client would get a new one. It seems to be that the Apple feature in UK seems to lack something that is present in the US feature. In the US, the person does not have to wait for the card to come in; they can go ahead and fill in the new details and can continue using the service.
In this case, the client had to remove all the details manually of the old card and had to wait until the new card had arrived before the details could be uploaded. While there are certain limitations for contactless cards, however that is not as high as it would cover the day to day purchases, for a lot of people the Apple watch is the best method that is used to pay for things.
