Last month, there was an announcement made by Microsoft, which stated that within February, a new feature will be added to Skype mobile app. This new feature will be a new group chatting feature, allowing more people to engage in a single chat. Although it was said that the chat feature will be added soon, no exact date was mentioned by Microsoft.
As of now, Microsoft has finally added this special feature to the Skype app for both Android as well as iOS devices. Now, the smart phone Skype version can be used like the desktop version, with the group chatting feature enabled. Presently, one can actually create chats with a maximum of 25 members chatting simultaneously. The video resolution is also enhanced, at 1080 p. Moreover, the app can now access both the cameras on any iPhone or Android device, like it actually allows on the desktop version of Skype.
Even the working of the new Skype app is similar to the PC version. In a group chat, the person who is actually talking is kept at the center of the screen and all others are shown surrounding this person. Actually, each time the speaker changes, the tiles are automatically rearranged to show the speaker much more accurately on the devices. One can also choose to keep the position of any desired member of the group chat permanent. That is, even if the person is not speaking, they still remain as the center tile.
Moreover, the new update, which added the group chat feature, added one more feature too. Now, one can also add certain members to any chats, be it single face to face chats, or group chats, who are not actually users of Skype, or does not have a Microsoft account. Initially, it was must for people to have Microsoft accounts or Skype accounts in order to participate in Skype chats. Now, by sending links through iMessage, one can invite any smartphone user on Skype.
