The CEO and founder of Nest Labs, Tony Fadell has been facing a lot of criticism. As per a conversation between Business Insider and a former employee of Nest, it was told that every step that was taken by Nest was administrating death. The environment that was created due to the micromanagement was a crunch time always. This was because of the fact that the changes that was made last minute used to result in deadlines that were tight and unrealistic. This use to result in the employees forced to work not just on weekends but also until very late at night.
Further it has also been brought to light by the employees who worked with the company that the fear atmosphere was the highlight of the environment. For those who were sitting even close to the Tony‘s office could hear the constant shouting coming out of his office.
Last month the digital thermostat has faced a few software glitches. Due to this the battery of the thermostat drained out really fast and eventually shut down. This forced the cooling and heating systems offline which resulted in the customers ending up to live in the cold.
Another commenter also stated that working with the company was one of his or her worst career experience. The comment further stated that the person had previously worked with two successful start‐up and the high expectations was not even in consideration, it was the abuse that was faced. It is said that the commenter still woke up occasional PSTD due to the fact that they were bullied and yelled by Tony Fadell during the time they were working for him.
Apparently the thermostat is supposed to be a dream in comparison to smoke detectors. The detectors gets triggered for no reason and can be stopped just by taking out the battery, however with the Nest product, they had to literally open the unit to access the compartment of the battery to switch it off.
