One of the most popular culinary magazines in the US is Bon Appétit. The new magazine that is about to be published is quite special. It is the very first Bon Appétit magazine in which all the photos featuring have been clicked with iPhones. Believe it or not, the magazine has replaced the regular traditional DSLR cameras with the iPhone camera for the March edition. Moreover, the Bon Appétit team had also posted a detailed article on their website about the process they used in order to capture the images for the magazine on an iPhone.
Each of the photographers involved with this special shoot were initially asked about what they thought about the whole plan of using the iPhone instead of the DSLR cameras. Most of them were actually shocked when the final decision was mentioned to them but all went with the decision. In order to get the best pictures available, some of the photographers needed to get better quality or newer models of iPhones specifically for this strange magazine shoot. One of the top photographers for Bon Appétit, Matt Haas later stated in an interview that for the shoot, he had to get an iPhone 6s over his iPhone 5s. Moreover, since he had never used a gadget like this for a professional shoot, he had put all his faith not only on the quality of the phone, but also on the camera quality and the idea of the magazine head team.
Though this was a very strange arrangement for a professional magazine shoot, many of the photographers took to this eagerly. Some even went a step forward and got additional iPhone lenses which can be attached to the phone, iPhone tripod stands and some even got selfie sticks. At the end, all of them agreed that with the light pocket sized iPhone, when put in comparison with the regular cameras used by these photographers, provided with a much more liberating, comfortable and fun experience. Moreover, they also stated that the camera attached to the iPhone is actually good enough for photo shoots.
