Apple never fails to amaze us with their offerings and the components of the iOS ecosystem are always getting updated. The OS X 10.11.4, which is the third beta version, meant for developers was released by the company on 8th February, 2016. By navigating to the App store of your iMac and clicking on the “Updates” option, this latest preview can be seen. In some of the earlier versions, many new features were added to Mac, which increased its functionality. The Live Photos which are captured by iPhone 6s or the 6s Plus can be viewed as well as shared using Messages and not only this, the Notes can be protected by passwords too. So what’s new with the update? Let’s have a look.
The version which is currently available is OS X 10.11.3, and in this particular version, the focus is only on still images. Yes, Live Photos can be sent using iMessage, but there is no audio or video support. Though for a normal Mac user it is more than enough, but at some point video as well as audio elements are needed for an immersive multimedia experience. In the new version OS X 10.11.4, Live Photos function as they should and there are no issues in this department. The update is expected to roll out officially on March 15th and various developer betas are released for testing purposes. Apple will also release public betas for some testers within a few days.
What about the “Notes” section? Past betas of OS X El Capitan included advanced formatting tools to this Notes App and the latest update has increased the security aspect by introducing password protection. By putting in one secure password, individual entries can be protected and this is absolutely amazing. For syncing between devices, the user’s iPhone or iPad must have the beta version of iOS 9.3. If this update is not installed, notes which are password protected will not be displayed in these older platforms. Previously the focus was on Photos and to some extent iBooks too.
