Rumors say that Time Warner’s CEO was mulling on the sale of the media company and interestingly Apple has been said to have shown interest in that particular deal. Apart from Apple many other companies have shown interest, with the likes of AT&T owner of “DirecTV” and Fox included in the list of potential suitors for the media company. One of Apple’s top most executives Eddy Cue, who has been the incharge of all content related deals has been keeping tabs on the potential deal.
Time Warner has a huge number of lucrative and a large number of assets and subsidiaries which could help Apple launch into its much rumored streaming service. These assets include HBO, TBS, CNN, TNT, Cartoon Network, NBA TV, and the main Warner Bros. division.
Apple has put the streaming services it had been working on from a long time, because it seemed to have stuck in some deal complications with content services and owners. The company had been on the lookout for some partnership with companies like ABC, CBS, Disney, Fox, Discovery, Viacom. The streaming service had been planned to have a total of 25 channels for around $30 a month. The companies seemed reluctant to get into a deal with Apple.
At present the fourth generation Apple TV has included on demand content from tvOS applications like CNNgo, ABC News, HBO NOW, Fox NOW, NBC Sports Live Extra, MLB.TV Premium, PBS Kids, PBS, Watch ABC, USA NOW and WatchESPN, with almost all requiring cable or satellite tv subscriptions.
