There are rumors that say Apple might be looking at introducing AMOLED displays in its future devices. It has been in talks with AU Optronics for procuring AMOLED displays for the future devices like IPhone and Ipod Touch. The reports say that Apple is looking to invest in the company.
There is the advantage of seeing the stock rise in the market that has attracted AU Optronics to the deal. The Taiwan based company has not certified the rumors but its shares have seen a rise in the Taiwanese market. The company has in the past supplied LCD screens to Apple. Apple wants it to move into specialized and exclusive AMOLED production and for that Apple is ready to invest in the Taiwanese company.
Talent and engineers from AU Optronics have been picked by Apple to work on anundisclosed project for production of thinner lighter and brighter OLED and MicroLED display screens. OLED screens are better visual performers than other display types but it has other drawbacks like a shorter life span. Apple Watch was Apple’s first product to have an AMOLED screen, while Samsung has been using AMOLED for quite some time now.
