The tech giant may be stepping into the selfdriving cars business soon, as Apple has recently registered three domains that are clearly car related . The names include apple.car, apple.cars and apple.auto The Who is records of each of these domains were changed on 8th January.
The records show that Apple has registered these. These addresses are not yet active though. There is a chance that these domains may link up to the CarPlay system that will be launched in coming months, while there is also a possibility that these could be related to the much rumored electric cars that Apple seems to be working on. Reports have surfaced many times that these vehicles are being worked on and may be released in 2019 or later.
Apple has been working on the vehicle for quite some time now, with many engineers and other talent recruited from top auto companies like Ford, Tesla and GM. They have raided many companies for the talent and in one case the electric motorcycle startup named Mission Motors had to shut down due to the loss of its employees to Apple. Since the plans are at best inresearch and development phase, we can expect that over the course of a couple of years we shall see more hints about the car, or even the car itself if things make faster progress. We expect that Apple’s rumored car shall be right at the top, competing with the likes of Tesla and Google.
