Reports have been seen that say that Twitter in a bid to expand its territory is looking at expanding its 140 character limit. The new limit that is being pondered upon is of 10000 characters. The thing about the move is that even if the 140 character limit is scrapped for a more liberal limit, only the first 140 characters will be visible. This new move might be implemented by this March.
Previously Twitter in a much appreciated move , made a change in its direct message character limit. It was changed from 140 to 10000.
Twitter DM Product manager Sachin Agarwal says that this limit extension is the most requested thing that everybody suggests for Twitter to implement.
Twitter is looking into the feasibility of the move and the experience and engagement that the move will bring. The changes in Twitter of late have not gathered any traction and have failed to appeal to wider untapped audiences.
The move is being seen as Jack Dorsey’s effort to gain traction in the field that has seen Facebook and Snapchat outshine it over these past couple of years.
