These drivers who carry the Apple workers from point A to the point B are associated with the Loop Transportation affiliated with Teamsters’ Local 853. The transport union of the drivers is associated with some of the other companies like Evernote, Google, eBay, Apple, Yahoo and PayPal. They are associated with some of the biggest tech giants in the silicon company.

No Increment Wages for Apple’s Shuttle Drivers

The issue with the drivers began in 2015 when they started speaking against the tech companies situated in the Silicon Valley. Some of the initial complaint were around unpaid downtime between the routes being driven in evening and the morning. The issue with the downtime has been formally addressed in the contract and it will be considered as paid time for the drivers. The initial contract post approval of the Teamsters’ was submitted in the year 2015, August month. The average payment of the drivers before the 25 percent hike was around $27,000 a year.

Rome Aloise, International vice president of the Teamsters and the principal officer of Local 853 says that pay increment for these people are very significant. At times it puts a lot of pressure on the companies to revise the payment. The kind of money they are making is good and much better from the other side of the jobs where the annual increment is very limited. Considering the kind of the increment the drivers are getting in their roles, the budget expense for the companies keeps on going up year by the year. Unfortunately things could not turn correctly for them and these drivers will only be getting benefits no the actual hike.
