Negotiations Between Tidal the Company Owned by Jay Z and Apple Reported for Acquisition

The latest Wall Street Journal report stated that the talks pertaining to the acquisition of The company named Tidal is presently going on between* Apple and Jay Z, Jay Z is the owner of the company which caters to streaming services. As of now there are no specific details that are known, however if this acquisition takes place, it will give Apple a leg up during the time they sit down for negotiations pertaining to exclusive streaming rights.

Apart from Jay Z, the other artists who own the Tidal include Jack White, Chris Martin, Beyonce, Kanye West and various other artists. Presently the early stages of the negotiations have been reported between Jay Z and Apple. As per the reports it does not seem that a deal may be a result yet.

The reason there is an interest in Tidal by the company is due to the fact that it is not just owned by artists, however it also has a ties which are said to be strong. In the recent times, the company managed to bag the streaming rights exclusively for a few albums which were said to be noted. This included The Life of Pablo by Kanye West and Lemonade by Beyonce. In regards to Beyonce’s album, it was featured on iTunes while Apple Music featured West’s album.

I was also explained by Jimmy lovine and a few Apple executives earlier in the week about what exactly goes on during the time there negotiations going on with labels and artists in regards to the exclusive rights. Even in Kanye’s album, it was explained by Lovine that initially it was planned by West that the project would be released on Apple Music. However at the last minute he backed out so that Jay Z and he could work together.
