The discontinuation of the product is something which is not surprising.

Discontinuation of the Thunderbolt Displays will Lead to New Integrated GPU Enabled Display May Follow

As a replacement of any product that is discontinued, Apple’s standard practise is to come up with a version that is new of the particular product, with this move, it can be a sign of the interpretation that , in regards to the external display business, it may just mark the exit of the company. However, there is someone who says that this may not be the case.

At least in the near future, it does not seem to be that the company has any plans to sell new external displays. If a person wants to avail the Thunderbolt Display, there are limited stocks that are still available online and at a few Apple Stores with a retail price of $999. It has been quite some time that any new inventory has been dispatched by the company and by the looks of it; it does not seem to be that the company plans to produce any new models. Prior to the WWDC 2016 it was widely noticed that the stock had been depleted by the company.

There was a separate report that was released by to 5Mac in regards to the fact that the company has already started making the necessary preparations to come with a display that is said to be a replacement. It is believed that the new display would include the integrated GPU that is needed to drive the Macs Retina resolution especially for those who do not have enough GPU’s. During the developer’s conference, we even got to know that Apple has no plans introduce any new hardware.

It was called quits officially by apple recently in regards to the Thunderbolt Display, however, Buzzfeed News’s John Paczkowski tweeter that as reported earlier, the company’s upcoming display is said to have an integrated GPU.

The present situation is that those who wish to buy the discontinued product can surely go ahead and do as long as the stock is available; however the company has also suggested that for Macs users the use of third party displays is recommended. The reason is due to the fact that it will still take time for the company to come up with a new integrated GPU enabled external display.

In comparison to its predecessor, the marketing done by Apple in regards to the new monitor is very different. For a Retina display which is also enabled with the USB ‐ C for use, the right name would not be the Thunderbolt Display, even the Thunderbolt connector which is considered to be a legacy would not be there today.
