LG to Be the Sole Supplier for Dual Lens Camera Module of Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus Until Next Year

Business Korea stated that this month, the shipment of the modules by LG Innotek has already started. It has also been predicted that the company has plans to monopolise the supply of the camera parts of the dual lenses for Apple. The entire year these parts would be provided by the company until other parties can come on board next year.

In regards to the module orders of the dual lens, it is said that a huge part of lion’s share would be taken by Sony which is already a supplier for Apple’s regular image sensor needs. In May, it was claimed by an Analyst that the productions of Sony have slowed down. This was due to the twin setbacks of the damage caused by the earthquake that hit the Kumamoto facility as well as the yields of low production.

The idea of the disruption in the production of the image sensor has been dismissed by Sony, however it could actually be that the probably the company could not keep up with the voracious demands of Apple’s iPhone camera. There are also leaks and rumours that have indicated so far that there are various other upgrades that can be expected with the iPhone7 Plus.
