Lawsuit Filed Against Apple By Immersion Pertaining To Haptic Feedback

Earlier in the year, a lawsuit was filed against Apple by one of the leading companies that deal with haptic feedback technology called Immersion Corporation. The lawsuit that was filed was over the haptic technology that Apple had used in the Apple Watch, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6. Now word has it that another lawsuit has been filed against AT& T and Apple.

In the lawsuit that was filed, it has been stated that one patent has been violated in the Mac Book Pro and Macbook in regards to the haptic feedback. Immersions have also said that on the first lawsuit, the mention of three more patents was not there pertaining to the iPhone 6s. Specifically, Immersion stated that the Macbook Pro and Mac Book’s Force Touch Trackpad violated those patients that were owned by the company.

On the front regarding the iPhone 6s, the functionality of the 3D Touch infringes the patents of Immersion. Listed below are the specifications that are being questioned The three Immersion patents that are infringement by the Apple iPhone 6s and Apple iPhone 6 are The Systems and Methods for Adaptive Interpretation of Input from a Touch Sensitive Input Device under US Patent No. 8,749,507 Methods and Apparatus for Providing Tactile Sensation under US Patent No. 7,808,488 Systems and Methods for Haptic Confirmation of Commands under the US Patent No. 8,581,710,

The Immersion Patient that was displayed pertaining to the infringement by the Mac Book Pro with Retina display and Macbook of Apple talks about Method and Apparatus for Providing Tactile Sensations under Patent No. 7,336,260. When asked as to why the lawsuit included AT&T, it was stated by Immersion that the reason is because the Apple products are sold by the Carrier. They also went on to say that by doing so, AT&T is facilitating and encouraging others in the same front.
