Apple not only bypassed their company protocols to help officials in unlocking the iPhone however also helped public prosecutors compile and drafts the report for the timely court order. Back then Apple took a lot of initiatives for clearing down the case and helping officials for nailing down the offenders. However in the recent attack Apple refused to help officials with unlocking their iPhone which was recovered from the mass shooter.

Apple says they are willing to help government with their strong demands however at the same time they are not willing to compromise on the security of their consumers. This is one of the reasons why they have not supported FBI with their request. In spite of all requests made by FBI, Apple chooses to stay with their terms. They glued to their company policies which further did not allow them to stay quiet.

The matter is in court now. Due to lack of company support, FBI had to hire experts from external sources for cracking down on the iPhone. They paid over a million dollar for simply getting access of the data from the attackers phone. FBI has also cleared from their sources that the crack they have used for iPhones is not applicable for iPhones 5, 5c , 5s and above models.
