Backdoor Creation Could Cause Companies To Flee

The present standoff between the FBI and Apple about the backdoor creation to help in the unlocking of the iPhone which was found during the San Bernardino case is out in the open. This has caused a lot of arguments and splits not just between companies and the government but also between the officials of the government also.

Backdoor Creation Could Cause Companies To Flee

While others and Apple has been arguing about the possible damages that may be caused, an amacus was filed recently by a company named Lavabit which was a secure technology company formerly. This company is supporting Apple and has also provided the necessary information as to how the demands that are made by the FBI can hurt America. It also went on saying that this can also result in the fact that companies may be driven away.

In 2013, the doors were closed by Lavabit due to the wake of the NSA revelations of Edward Snowden. It is believed that Snowdon used the encrypted email services of Lavabit. The founder of the company Ladar Levison had stated that he would strongly recommended that no one should trust their data which is private to companies which have any ties physically with US.

The support Amacus that was submitted by the company stated that just before it could shut down; the FBI had obtained an encryption key privately. This key allows modifying, inspecting, decrypting and intercepting all the connections either accidentally and intentionally between the outside world and Lava.

It not only felt that it would be illegal for Apple to create the backdoor however it also stated that there is a possibility it can also run the company’s reputation. This will also result in the fact that customers will never get to know if the iOS device update is save or not as well as to the fact if they are being spied on.
