Vote On Proposal Regarding Higher Management Diversity

On Feb 26th, during the annual meeting of Apple, there will be a vote taken by the shareholders pertaining to a proposal. The proposal is something that is being opposed by the company as the proposal calls that there should be an increased diversity in the senior management of the company.

One of the shareholder’s who has Apple stocks worth more than $2000 Antonio Maldonado has been one of the people who have tried using Apple to increase the Abysmal. He says thee there is no diversity at the company’s top level. In 2015, the top management of the company consisted of 4 African Americans and 1 Hispanic; this was among Companies’ Managers, Sr. Officials and executives that were considered by the company. While talking to Michel Marten of NPR, Maldonado told that the company believed that there making progress. They also believed that the Upper Management numbers were great; however he believed that it was the opposite.

When he was talking to his son about tech careers that is when his interest developed in this front. He went on to say that they were reviewing Apple’s website when his son went ahead and said that he would be the first non white person to be up there.

After that, those words remained in his mind, he started doing a lot of research for 3 years after which he went ahead and confronted the company about the same and challenged them. He has never been able to get a proper answer as to why this was happening. There shareholder had made a request through the proposal for the adoption of the policy of accelerated recruitment. This would mean that the Company would need to increase the diversity not just in the Board of Directors but also the senior management.
