Twitter Announces Native GIF Search Support For Its iOS App

The official announcement of iOS apps that support the search support of native GIF was officially made by Twitter today. The GIF search additions is really beneficial as now users will be able to do the search directly from the thousands of GIF which are there in a library and also insert them immediately into their tweet or message directly.

They search on the GIF library can be done either with the help of a keyword or also by browsing the various categories of the different reactions that are there like YOLO, Mic Drop, Happy dance etc.

When a person is composing direct message or tweet, the GIF library can be accessed by clicking on the button that is located towards the bottom right hand side. This option lies between the camera roll and polling option. Twitter has gone under a partnership with Riffsy and GIPHY so that they could come up with the latest search feature.

As per the comment that was made by Riffsy’s co‐founder and CEO, David McIntosh, he stated that the use of GIF‘s could express a lot, it is all about searching for the one that can efficiently and quickly express exactly what you feel. He further went on to say that the company is very excited to the fact they join hands with Twitter and that there was a lot that could be explored with the partnership.

On the other hand, GIPHY’s CEO and founder, Alex Chung, stated that the company delivers GIF‘s which are real time; this can help in the live conversation and commentary feature of Twitter. There are GIF’s that are being created by its users for sports, entertainment, news and that the tweets can be enriched with the expression. Even GIPHY expressed their excitement pertaining to the fact that it has become easy to share the GIF‘s.
