Faulty Cables Given Out By Apple

In the year 2015, a new series of Apple Mac Books were available in the market, the Apple Retina MacBook. Although the system was working fine, the problem lied in the peripherals. It was later found out that the charging cables provided by Apple with the Retina Mac Book were faulty.

It was later seen that users who were given this cable along with the whole Mac Book package had serious problems while charging their Mac Books. Some of the Mac Books remained uncharged whereas others charged in an intermittent ways. Thus, this year, Apple announced that they will replace all the faulty charge cables worldwide. These charge cables were of the USB C type and were initially given out to the public as the official charge cable for the new Retina Mac Book launched by Apple in 2015. According to releases from Apple, these cables were said to malfunction due to some issues in the design of the object.

Apple states that these cables will not charge the Mac Book in any way and thus will need instant replacement, which they will provide free of cost. According to them, all the faulty cables have the labeling on them which states that the cables were designed in California but was assembled in China. On the other hand, the new, redesigned replacement cables sent out by Apple has all the above information, plus added information, which is the serial number of the cable. According to Apple, they will not only replace the faulty cables sent along with the Retina Mac Book as the default charger, but also chargers which were purchased separately by various users.

A question stull remains on how these chargers will be replaced. It is known that whenever anyone buys Apple products from online stores or retail stores, they need to provide with certain user details like the home address. Apple states that buyers who had provided Apple with valid addresses where the replacement C type USB chargers can be mailed to, will automatically get the new cables. Others, who are official owners of the Retina Mac Book and or buyer of the faulty charging cables, will have to visit Authorized Service Providers of Apple or retail stores to get their faulty cable replaced for free.

According to Apple, these faulty cables were out in the market for approximately a couple of months. Moreover, they also stated that this replacement facility for the faulty cables will only last till 8th June, 2018.
