Suit Filed Against Apple.Inc Oven Error 53 In Californian Court

In the recent times, iPhone users have been reporting about the 53 error code that they have been facing. The Error53 is a problem that is related to iPhones that have the fingerprint sensor. A lawsuit was filed by a law firm in Seattle against the company at California’s Northern District US Court. As per the suit filed, the point of argument is that the phones which had Touch ID buttons that were damaged were being prevented to work normally due to the error and was being considered as abusive. The company had not informed or warned the customers that any kind of problem could prop up due to replaced or damaged Touch ID sensors. Due to this, in November 2015, around 62 million pieces in the US were affected. The judge is yet to grant the class action status.

Error 53‐ the reason why it exists

Though this may cause a lot of inconvenience to the users, the existence of the Error 53 is due to some technical problems. For every phone that is shipped, the Touch ID sensor acts like a security measure and is paired with the phone. This concept behind designing this sensor is to help in the prevention of the use of a fraudulent touch ID. If every iPhone‐Touch ID paring is one of its kinds, it increases the challenge to access the phone, transaction information on Apple pay and other such details.

The reason why this problem is being highlighted so much last year as well as this year is because of the fact that due to the Touch ID sensors that have been damaged, replaced or even mismatched, the proper functioning of the phones have become a major concern. When a new Touch ID is installed, the updates of the phone fail which result in the Error code propping up that ends up in the phone rebooting.

The solution to this problem, well as per the recommendation of the company, users have been recommended to take their damaged or replaced Touch ID sensor phones to an authorised shop or an Apple store that nearby to get it fixed. For those who are not willing to pay the service fee of the company or do not have one close by, then it can be a real challenge. There are also other kinds of suggestions that have been made which head to the direction that the company can resolve the problem b allowing phones with damaged touch ID sensors to update, boot as well as work just like the normal iPhones.
